I think the international boat has sailed as if he couldn't get in this squad he never will.
I'd be astounded if he was interested in the Republic of Ireland.

he might as well because hodgson will be in charge for the next world cup. the FA have their perfect manager in woy. a yes man who won't rock the boat, will obey orders and keep everything as dull as fuck

According to the Mail, Mark may have a rethink about the Republic of Ireland invitation considering Hodgson doesn't want him.

That's an awful squad. Saddest thing us, bar one or two players that's more or less all there is fit and available. What a mess.

Looking at that England squad, we really are light years behind most other top footballing nations.

I even hated Hodgson's smug little grin when he revealed the surprise news that Rooney would be captain. Well done Roy!

Spot on Sven. But he may have to move to Liverpool Man U or spurs to get noticed

Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
Given that Ashley Cole is retired , Baines had a disastrous World Cup & Man U are struggling to fit Luke Shaw into a pair of shorts you'd have to think Cresswell has a chance to impress this season if Danny Rose is next in line.

I see the nucleus of the team that did so well in Brazil have retained there places.

Well done Roy

Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
Well, the chickens are coming home to roost now. This, the worst England squad I've seen in over 50 years, is what comes from the Premier League having the smallest number of home grown players in it compared to any other league in Europe.
In just a few years we've gone from having a squad filled with the so called 'golden generation' - mostly ex-West Ham - to what I can only describe as the 'lost generation'.
And if we think we've had it bad following England all these years, I suspect that with these players some of those rough decades will feel like halcyon years compared to what we're going to be put through soon.

I know it's been said, but Danny fuckin Rose!!!? WTF? I wouldn't have him play for us, so what's he doing anywhere near an England squad. I despair.

Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
Roy is picking the best of a bad bunch.

The fact is, the pool of players he has to choose from is getting smaller. Something has to be done about the number of foreigners in the league.

Its wonderful seeing them play in the premier league, but for me this should not be at the detriment of the national side. Nothing beats seeing your young players come through the academy and then become established first teamers. That can only happen if they are given time to develop and an opportunity.

Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
There are reasons why Noble isn't in the squad....one of them being that Hodgson doesn't wear claret and blue specs.

Surely he'll get called up one day..... even Carlton Cole managed that.

Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
I feel abit sorry fir woy

Hardly his fault English players are shit

Hardly his fault he took over a team whose good players were over the hill and had inky a few decent youngsters

Noble should be included, but that aside I don't see too many other options for him. Maybe if some players showed a bit if fight and determination and want to play, we'd be better. Milner gets called up on the basis of 25 20 minute cameos a season for city, he's still young enough to improve if he was playing 30 full games elsewhere

Sven Roeder 10:07 Thu Aug 28
Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
More reason to beat them.
Fondue is an abomination

I don't think Noble is international class but he deserves a place in THIS squad given those that are in.
Downing is playing better now in these two games than he ever did when he was in the England squad.
Rooney as captain says it all. I wouldn't put him in charge of a hamster

No because he had an English father and Welsh mother.

Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
Christ, that squad is depressing. Hodgson seems to be picking by media favourites?

Nearly half these players are not playing well or rumoured to be sold by current clubs?? Inspiring!

Mark Noble is certainly neither and should be an obvious squad member, if maybe not a starter. It remains baffling.

Sven Roeder 9:31 Thu Aug 28
Re: Any West Ham names in the England squad?
Frighteningly ordinary squad but are there other options?
No is the answer.
Switzerland in the first competitive game isn't it? Will be 2nd favourites going on the a World Cup ... against the nation that brought us Toblerone, the cuckoo clock & Roger Bloody Federer

Takashi Miike 9:27 Thu Aug 28
